What should I do if my music is used in an advertisement?
If someone wishes to use your music in an advertisement, they must first obtain your permission. You decide whether to grant that permission free of charge or in exchange for a fee (synchronisation rights). Sabam is not involved in these arrangements.
However, the advertising company must pay authors' rights royalties for the use of your music in the advertisement. These royalties will subsequently be distributed to you through Sabam.
Make sure that you have registered your work with Sabam and that you report the broadcast of the advertisement through MyPlaylist. Only then can we ensure that you receive the royalties to which you are entitled.
