Is my music allowed to be used on television without my permission?

Yes, in most cases. Broadcasters enter into general agreements with Sabam, which allow them to use your music without having to obtain your permission for each individual work.

There are, however, some exceptions. Your permission is required when your music is used in:

• the opening or closing credits of a programme (intro and outro)
• films and fiction series
• advertising commercials

In these cases, you decide whether your music may be used and under which conditions. Your moral rights always remain protected.

If you disagree with a particular use of your work, you may object to it on the basis of your moral rights and raise the matter with the broadcaster.
