How do I register an adaptation of an existing work?

If you wish to translate or adapt an existing work, you must first obtain permission from the original rights holders. You can find out who to contact through the Sabam repertoire database.

Have you obtained that permission? The way you register the adaptation depends on your situation:

• You do not receive a share and the work is not published

Submit your registration through MyWorx and select the original work from the database. The rights holders no longer need to confirm your registration, as you have already obtained their permission.

• You do not receive a share and the work is published

In that case, the publisher will inform Sabam of your adaptation. You cannot register it yourself through MyWorx, but you may notify us by email at documentation@sabam.be, attaching a copy of the permission.

• You do receive a share for your adaptation

In this case, you cannot register the adaptation through MyWorx either. Please send a copy of your agreement with the original rights holders (or their publisher(s)) to documentation@sabam.be.
