Why do you sometimes have to pay royalties to Toneelfonds Janssens or SACD in addition to Sabam for a performance?
Sabam is not the only organisation in Belgium that represents the rights of authors of theatrical works. Some authors entrust the management of their rights to other organisations, such as publishers or foreign societies (e.g. SACD).
As a result, you may need to contact more than one party for the same performance.
For example, if you perform a work from the Sabam repertoire but use a translation managed by SACD, you will need permission from both organisations and will have to pay a share of the royalties to each of them.
