Sabam supports you as a creator - from your first idea to the further development of your career.
We not only help you move forward, but also ensure that your work is showcased and your interests are protected.
Support through the Cultural Fund
Through the Culture Fund, we promote the creation, development, and dissemination of our members’ work. We do this both in Belgium and internationally.
Vision
We do not seek a monopoly on promotion, but rather support the initiatives of creators and partners.
A committee ensures that all support and expenditures are made in the best interests of our members. Individual support is not available, with the exception of grants. All activities and support measures are reported to the relevant committees and the governing body.
The cultural fund is also active abroad, for example through events such as ADE (Amsterdam), Eurosonic (Groningen), MaMA (Paris), and the Rencontres d’Avignon.
How is this funded?
When we pay out royalties, we withhold a portion for social, cultural, and educational purposes.
In this way, every creator contributes to a collective sense of solidarity within the sector.
The general regulations specify which rights this deduction applies to.
With these funds, the cultural fund invests in, among other things:
- creation and production
- exploitation and promotion
- internationalization
- professional development of creators

Advocacy
Sabam also defends your interests at the economic and political levels.
We do this through partnerships with professional associations and by participating in key consultative bodies.
In Flanders, we collaborate with, among others:
- BSCG (film composers)
- Comav (composers)
- De Muziekgilde (songwriters and performers)
- Screenwriters' Guild
- Directors' Union
- Flemish Authors' Association
- BMPA (Music Publishers)
In addition:
- As a member of the Flemish Media Sector Council we help shape audiovisual policy
- we represent authors in the Intellectual Property Council
- we are members of the collecting societies AUVIBEL (home copying) and REPROBEL (lending rights and reprography)
- we participate in consultative committees of the FPS Economy
- we are active within the Belgian Copyright Association (BVA)
