Statutory licenses

Your work is given a second life through copies and recordings. That counts, too.
Is your audiovisual work being copied or recorded? If so, you may be entitled to compensation through statutory licenses.
What's in it for you?
  • You receive royalties from uses that are difficult for you to track yourself (copies, recordings, etc.)
  • Sabam collects these royalties through collecting societies such as Reprobel and Auvibel.
  • This way, you won’t miss out on revenue from forms of use that are difficult to measure

From copy to payment: here's how it works
  1. Your work is copied (e.g., onto media or through recordings)
  2. Producers and manufacturers pay a fee for this
  3. That fee is collected by the collecting societies Auvibel and Reprobel. They forward the fees to Sabam.
  4. Sabam distributes the revenue
  5. You receive your share
How is your reimbursement calculated?

Your compensation depends on:

  • the total fees collected
  • whether and to what extent your work is included in the distribution
  • your share of the work
