As a member of Sabam, your copyrights are managed abroad by the sister societies with which Sabam has entered into reciprocal representation agreements.

More specifically, this means that the foreign authors' society will do everything to assure your royalties are collected when your works are exploited on its territory. These royalties are then paid to Sabam to redistribute them to its members.

NB: All foreign authors' societies act autonomously on the basis of their own national legislation, articles of association and regulations. It may be the case that certain types of exploitations, some categories of authors and works are not managed by a sister society whereas in Belgium, Sabam intervenes for these cases. If you would like more information about this, you can get in contact with the Sabam Customer Service.

Please also take account of the fact that the foreign authors' society determines its rates independently. You can therefore not assume that the amount of foreign royalties will be the same as the amount you receive for exploitations of your work in Belgium. The economic situation of the country in question also plays a role.
